Martial Law - The Extent of The Brutality of the Britisher's

The massacre of Jallianwala Bagh made it even more ignited by the calmness of the Punjab government. The April 13 massacre did not only spread terrorism in Amritsar but also in other cities of Punjab. Even then Punjab Lieutenant Governor felt it necessary to impose martial law or military law in Amritsar and some other places.

He asked permission from the Governor-General to declare martial law, which was immediately found. One day the inquiry was done. In the morning of April 15, the rule of law was over in Amritsar and the entire city came under the control of the army. Martial law was imposed in Lahore the same day.

Fierce orders were given By  Marshall Law

How did the Amritsar residents reside in martial law, the answer would be found in those orders which were publicized by the military officers there. Some of these commands were in this way.

  • In the market where Miss Sherwood was struck, it was ticked to victimize the people and the order was issued that whatever Bharat was passed through it would crawl in the stomach, not standing up.
  • It was instructed that every Indian should want to salute him when the British officer comes forward.
  • A lot of things were judged on. Many poor financial accounts have become unconscious.
  • All the lawyers in the city were made to work day and night by making special constables.
  • The arrest of the arrest, handcuffs, large and without feeding-in the jail premises, etc. were considered as ordinary penalties, which could have been given to any officer of the lower rank too unconvincing.
  •  All the courts were dissolved.

The harder these commands were used were even more rigidly used. To go from the street, the glide of the stomach to the Indians was declared mandatory, it was 150 yards long. Whether it is small or big, young or old, to get water to take water or to bring medicine for any sick person in the house - creep was compulsory. At the time of crawling, the gun's tube was on the back. Just stopped that the Gori sepoy stumbled. This inhuman order was used on almost 50 men.

The peace of fury in the city was done on 12th April. On April 13, the murder was done by General Dyer. Shops opened on April 15. Thus, an opportunity for peace was to come in general, but there was a fire of change in the heart of the British officers and he was not going to be calm. Marshall Law was implemented to fulfill it and it was continued till 9th June.

Martial Law was released on April 16 in Lahore. Colonel Johnson was the chief officer of this law in Lahore. Martial law was imposed on Kasur, Gujranwala, Najirabad, Nizamabad, Akalgarh, Ramnagar, Hafizabad, Sanglahil, Navapind, Gujarat, Jabalpur etc. of Punjab and inhuman rigor was used. Every dictator of martial law tried to defeat each other in the rigors of atrocities. Some orders were such that they also surprised the British who lived in England.
